Nebraska Department of Economic Development A department of state government that coordinates several programs essential to local government planning and development. Nebraska Department of Natural Resources A department of state government, formed on July 1, 2000, by the merger of the Natural Resources Commission and the Department of Water Resources. Floodplain management programs are coordinated through this department. Nebraska Department of Roads This department coordinates all highway building and other statewide transportation projects. Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality This department coordinates and enforces various pollution waste disposal regulations. American Planning Association APA is a non-profit public interest and research organization representing 30,000 practicing planners, officials, and citizens involved with urban and rural planning issues. Nebraska Planning and Zoning Association NPZA is a membership organization for persons involved in planning across the state of Nebraska. The NPZA holds an annual conference and publishes a newsletter.
